Refsum disease (IRD) is the mildest variant of the peroxisome biogenesis disorders, Zellweger syndrome spectrum (PBD- ZSS), characterized by , retinitis pigmentosa, , sensorineural hearing loss and liver dysfunction. Phenotypic overlap is seen between IRD and adrenoleukodystrophy (NALD).
