Clinical definition (Orphanet)
A rare diffuse form of hyperinsulinism characterized by an excessive/ uncontrolled insulin secretion (inappropriate for the level of glycemia), chronic and recurrent episodes of induced by fasting and protein rich meals. and cognitive deficit, which are unrelated to but possibly related to the chronic , may also occur. This disorder is usually responsive to diazoxide treatment.
How rare: How common this is has not been clearly measured.
