Fatal hypertonic myofibrillar is a rare, genetic skeletal muscle disease characterized by muscle stiffness and rigidity, , weakness, respiratory distress and normal cognition. Patients have persistently elevated creatine kinase and histopathology is typical of myofibrillar . The manifestation onset follows the short period of normal development and leads to respiratory insufficiency and early death.

How rare: <1 / 1 000 000 — fewer than one in a million. In a city the size of Kolkata, that might mean on the order of fifteen people.
